Our favourite spots for skiing
This winter season, we've put together a TOP 5 of our favourite ski resorts that will cater to your needs and take you to new horizons.
For the impatient ones, head to Tignes. Thanks to its high altitude, the resort is very often the first to open its slopes to the public. With its 300km of runs spread across 2 glaciers, you'll have more than enough to satisfy the skier within you for nearly a week without getting bored. One piece of advice: wrap up warm, because high altitude means low temperatures.
For occasional skiers, you'll have an ideal weekend at Les Rousses resort. Head off skiing between Switzerland and the Jura for a few days at this low-altitude resort. You'll have the choice of around thirty runs, fairly long ones at that, which will make the pleasure last. For cross-country skiing enthusiasts, you'll find what you're looking for, and for the more courageous, you can even take part in the very famous Transjurassienne!
For skiing as a family, Les Saisies is the most suitable family resort, catering to both young and old, with numerous facilities designed for every type of visitor. With the 200km of runs at the Espace Diamant, spread across Val d'Arly, Beaufortain, Savoie and Haute-Savoie, you can ski from morning to evening while enjoying a unique panorama over the most beautiful peaks such as Mont Blanc.
For those seeking thrills, head to La Clusaz and its 5 massifs. With its 85 runs there's something for everyone, but what stands out for us is an ungroomed black run, for a great time while still staying safe, and a summit at 2,600m offering one of the greatest vertical drops with more than 1,500m of descent!
For those who want to enjoy city life even in the mountains, the very famous resort of Chamonix. At the foot of Mont Blanc, you can enjoy 4 ski areas linked by shuttles, offering plenty of variety. Once the lifts have closed, you can then head to a very lively town centre with plenty of ways to unwind or extend the day.
BONUS: For new horizons, we head to the Vaudois Alps in Switzerland at the Villars-Gryon-Diablerets resort. A unique experience awaits you: skiing on a glacier at 3,000 metres above sea level! A cable car even allows non-skiers to reach the summit, so if you don't have a fear of heights and aren't afraid of the cold, it's something to experience at least once.
